10 Things to Remember During a Challenging Economy

Here are ten powerful thoughts to keep in mind:

  1. This too shall pass. All things are transitory. Everything cycles in and out. This recession will not last forever.
  2. Economic downturns are important. It’s a natural cleansing process that leaves the country’s economic framework in a stronger position when things turn upward.
  3. Save. Save. Save. A challenging economy gives us an important reminder that we must constantly be adding to our savings—no matter what.
  4. This is just another experience. If you shut off mainstream media for a while you’ll realize how events get overly dramatized. Again, this too shall pass.
  5. You’re never short of money—only short of an idea. Even in downturns, there are many businesses that flourish. Your true capital is creativity, not money.
  6. Adaptability is a quality of the human condition. The human spirit is incredibly strong. We adapt. How much we kick and scream in the process is up to us.
  7. Let go of resisting what is. Things are tough and might be so for some time. Resisting this fact or complaining about it only expends valuable energy that can be directed towards more fruitful ends.
  8. Focus on what you will create, not on what you lack. I dare not call it the law of attraction but what you hold in mind tends to manifest.
  9. Opportunities still exist. There are always opportunities. Always.
  10. Life is a gift. Be grateful for your existence regardless of your circumstances.

One friendly reminder: You can genuinely smile at any moment … including this one.

#5 came from an old mentor of mine. It truly is amazing to consider that all true wealth is created by creativity. Money follows creativity, not the other way around.

Let go of resisting what is; works really well for me. This idea of staying in the Now (by not resisting) is very powerful. The average mind lives in resisting others and things (economy, etc). Also there is an aspect of peace that comes with truly letting go.

Letting go is definitely a challenge for most people because the ego is intent on changing everything in its environment. Its never okay with “what is.” If we can let go and accept things as they are, peace IS sure to follow …
