What is “Enlightened Business”?

2009 March 26

Enlightened Business is not about becoming enlightened, but about expanding our awareness of what we are and developing a better understanding of the role business plays in our lives. Business isn’t either negative or positive. Business, in general, isn’t corrupt, nor need it be the central focus of our lives. But for some, business is a way of supporting and uplifting humanity.

Business can be perceived as a tool, like a knife. A knife can be used to kill someone in a crime of passion–but it can also be used to perform open-heart surgery. What we make of business is a function of how we hold it.

Many of us have a poor relationship to money. Money falls within the field of business. As a consequence, many of us have a poor relationship with business. This seems unfortunate since, for most of us, business plays a dominant role in our modern lives. We might view business as a necessary evil or simply a way of paying the bills, but ultimately, the meaning we have for business is the meaning we create for it.

Enlightened Business asks us to align with a genuine higher meaning of what business represents for us so that it can be used to uplift the consciousness of mankind.

But more on that later …
